Double Cleansing : Yay or Nay?
In recent years, we have all heard about double facial cleansing during the evening routine. If you haven't heard about it, don't worry, we'll break it down for you.
Double cleansing is a technique that consists of using two types of cleansers consecutively to wash your face. This technique is quite common in Korean and Japanese beauty regimes. The first wash is usually oil-based (pure oil, oil cleanser, cleansing balm). It removes products such as makeup and sunscreen from the face. The second is to wash the face with a water-soluble cleanser compatible with your skin type. This cleansing aims to remove impurities such as dirt, sweat and pollution*.
How to double cleanse your face effectively?
Step 1: Apply the oil-based cleanser to dry skin and massage it into the face for 30 seconds to a minute. Then, using a damp glove, gently remove the cleanser or rinse it off.
Step 2: Apply a water-soluble cleanser to wet skin and massage into face for one minute, then rinse before continuing your program.
Do we recommend double cleansing?
We recommend a double cleansing if you apply makeup every day and/or use a mineral sunscreen. Otherwise, simply use a water-soluble cleanser, provided it is suitable for your skin type.
